Garden City Arts will be featuring Garden City native Tristan Lindo and his stunning work in the gallery for the month of March!

About Tristan's upcoming exhibit:

“Why Not?”, is my studio mantra as well as my response toward putting this exhibition together while in the middle of my second graduate school semester. Whether it is contemplating the fruition of an art work or reading about our world, I strive to be open minded and never stop asking questions. This exhibition is special to me because I have not displayed a majority of these works to the public eye and I feel I have selected the best work that represents the past five years of my painting practice (which has led me from Garden City, Hays, and to Lawrence as a Master of Fine Arts candidate at the University of Kansas).

The paintings in “Why Not?” are all connected to my fascinations of astral projection/vision, the environments around me, evolution, and the unknown. Anything according to history that conjures up mystery excites me- such as the Phantom Time Theory, Santa Claus, the Green Children of Woolpit, and other strange documentations. With the unknown playing a crucial inspirational role in my work, it is my goal to provide a similar amount of pondering regarding the information provided in my paintings. To help me achieve this, I often find myself searching for any opportunities to contrast formal elements- generating a dichotic language, and manipulate the pictorial plane in a manner that may ignore reason. There is nothing to me more satisfying than to feel the various viscosities of paint as they are being stretched and adhered to substrates.

Unfortunately, there are loved ones that cannot be here to see this and I want to take this conclusion to dedicate this exhibition to the love I share with the individuals that are no longer here physically, and to all of those that are and continue to supply me with support and love.
